Phad Thai is a very popular stir-fried noodle dish in Thailand and abroad. Influenced long time ago by Chinese noodle, Thais have evolved their own way of noodle cookery into Phad Thai. Phad Thai is stir fried rice noodles with many ingredients, including: eggs, fish sauce, tamarind juice, red chili pepper, bean sprouts and it can also be served with shrimp or chicken. Usually, it is served with ground peanuts, garnished with lime wedge, green onion, fresh banana shoot and extra fresh bean sprouts.
There are two main styles of Phad Thai: an original lighter, dryer version of the dish, and a heavier, oilier one found more outside of Thailand. Of course, nothing beats the original version!
This is a very healthy dish with many natural ingredients that depends far less on rice than many other Thai dishes; in fact, it was introduced at a time of major floods in Thailand when the rice crop was suffering.
