Ramsey still finding his form
Just like Sanchez, Aaron Ramsey only returned to training on Thursday and made his first preseason appearance by starting in the No. 10 role normally occupied by Mesut Ozil. Ramsey was at the heart of some promising attacks, particularly in the first half, but looked sloppy at times and far from the form he displayed with Wales at the European Championship. It's clear he still needs some time to regain full match fitness and Wenger could be better off playing Santi Cazorla in that creative central role against Liverpool.
Ramsey is hoping to really cement a place in Arsenal's central midfield this season, but Wenger may need to ease him back carefully after his first major international tournament.
Holding has promise
Holding faced his toughest test yet since joining the Gunners by coming up against Sergio Aguero and City's high-powered attack. He coped well for most of the 45 minutes he played, but lost track of Aguero as the striker put City ahead by getting free to meet a cross from Raheem Sterling in the first half.
Holding was meant to be a signing for the future when he was brought in from Bolton last month, but Arsenal's injury crisis could force him to play a big part right away. He has all the talent needed and his ability to read the game is already evident. He's no doubt a good prospect, but it's still unclear whether he's ready for the top level right now.
