Starch based edible
films containing AM/MC/HPMC as functional
polysaccharide showed heat sealability in the temperature
range of 85–166 C. The
films sealed below 143 C showed peeling
mode failure indicating weak strength of the seal. Above 144 C,
failures occurred by tearing mode which indicated higher strength.
The maximum value of seal strength, achieved at 166 C, was 0.396,
0.211, and 0.385 N/mm for AM, MC, and HPMC, respectively.
