The socio-demographic diversity of the sample was ensured, based on census data, to span divisions of sex, age, and education in all regions and types of settlement.
Representativeness for regions and for types of settlement was ensured by the applied quoted sampling method.

On the assigned settlements a random walking method was used to ensure total randomness in selection.
Refusal was characteristic; the questions were answered in only 62% of the households.
