Given the fact that snack foods have infiltrated modern society
to a seemingly irreversible extent, future studies should
focus on assessing the differences between snack foods, such as
potato chips versus corn chips, and preparation style, such as
baked versus fried. Furthermore, health reforms, mass education,
intervention programs, and prevention strategies would help to
highlight the symptoms, risk factors, and nutritional lifestyle that
can pose a threat to health. With the increase in calorie intake
and sedentary lifestyles, there is a need to maintain balance that
can be achieved through regular physical activity. Educating
people regarding lack of exercise and prolonged sitting is needed
to help initiate public health interventions and curb the onset of
metabolic syndrome.
