Because of high air temperature and high
evaporation and with no lateral water movement from
adjacent areas, drought stress developed rapidly and
plants started to show symptoms of water deficit by
rolling their leaves at about 54 DAS (8 DAW). There
was a total of 45 mm of rain during 3 days near the end
of February (Fig. 2) and this caused the plants to
recover from the drought and delayed development of
drought stress by about 12 days.
