The active principle was extracted from the fermentation supernatant
with an equivalent volume of BuOH. The BuOH layer was
concentrated and extracted with a mixture of CHCl3:MeOH:H2O
(5:6:4). The lower layer, to which almost all the activity was confined,
was collected and further purified by centrifugal partition
chromatography [CHCl3:MeOH:H2O (5:6:4)]. The active fractions
were collected and concentrated in vacuo to give two kinds of pure
active compounds.
