Found in the Mayan society, the three orders: nobility, clergy and people. The nobility and the priests live in the city, which was also the religious center. The people, made of peasants, lived in the area. The basis of the economy was agriculture. Because of the needs in land, they much forests and pioneered new farmland. The Mayas grew corn, cotton and cocoa. This latest culture had assumed such importance that it was used as currency.
