Plastic fragments were more often found in the colon, rectum, cloaca
and bladder than in the stomach or small intestine.
The large intestine
was grossly distended in eight turtles, and the entire GI tract including
the stomach in one turtle.
Necrotic debris (an accumulation of dead
and dying tissue)was observed lining the bladder (n=8 turtles), cloaca
(n = 5) and distal rectum (n = 2) and in some cases filled the entire
bladder.
Abnormal coloration or swelling of the kidneys occurred in
six turtles that had obstruction of the bladder or cloaca.
