3.2. XRD characterization
The XRD patterns of BMP:Eu2+ and BMP:Eu2+, Mn2+ phosphors
are shown in Fig. 2 as representative. The patterns indicate that
most of the diffraction peaks of samples above can be assigned
to the pure phase of Ba2Mg(PO4)2(JCPDS no.16–0556). It is found
that there is no obvious change in the XRD patterns of the samples
with Eu2+ and Mn2+ doping into the host. Therefore, the crystal
structure of Ba2Mg (PO4)2 is not influenced by the added Eu2+
and Mn2+.
3.3. Luminescence properties of Eu2+, Mn2+ singly doped and co-doped
BSP phosphors
Fig. 3 shows the emission and excitation spectra of Eu2+ singlydoped
BMP phosphors. Under the excitation of 380 nm, BMP:Eu2+
exhibits a broad blue emission band centered at 456 nm which is
attributed to 4f65d1?4f7(8S7/2) transition of Eu2+. It is observed
that the excitation spectrum monitored at 456 nm ranges from
250 to 400 nm which means BMP:Eu2+ can be excited effectively
by UV-LED.
