Because of negative effects of thermal residual stresses, it is important to develop techniques to reduce these stresses. Most of the approaches employed so far for this purpose are confined to modifying curing cycles (Hodges et al., 1989, Kim et al., 2006 and White and Hahn, 1993). Modifying curing cycles do not affect thermal and mechanical properties of fibre and resin and the inherent mismatch between these properties remains unchanged. But nano-additives could reduce inherent mismatch between the properties and consequently could inherently reduce the thermal residual stresses.
