Clinical features
The DSM-IV-TR stipulates that, as well as matching the definition,
patients must have the following clinical features:
1. Disturbance of consciousness. A reduced ability to focus,
inattention and reduced
awareness of the environment.
2. A change in cognition or perceptual disturbance including
memory deficits,
disorientation and language disturbance.
3. The above features develop over hours to days and fluctuate
throughout the day.
