The experiment was established as a randomized complete
block design with three replicates. Each plot (667 m
2
) was planted
with 170 banana tissue culture plantlets (Musa acuminataAAA
Cavendish cv. Brazil). Thefield experiment hadfive treatments
including a general operation control (GCK). The treatment plots
were amended with four different types of organic amendments:
(1) CM treatment, soil amended with cattle manure compost (CM);
(2) PM treatment, soil amended with pig manure compost (PM); (3)
CMR treatment, soil amended with Chinese medicine residue
compost (CMR); (4) BIO treatment, soil amended with bio-organic
fertilizer (BIO) and 5) general operation control (GCK), amended
with pig manure at the amount of 300 kg per 667 m
2
and essential
mineral fertilizers (N, 36 kg; P, 9 kg; and K, 72 kg). The composts of
each treatment (except GCK) were used at the amount of 600 kg per
667 m
2
. All treatments were adjusted to the same amounts of N, P
and K by mineral fertilizers as necessary. Two-thirds of the composts and essential mineral fertilizers were applied as basic fertilizers before planting using a rotary tiller. The remaining organic
fertilizer or bio-organic fertilizer and essential mineral fertilizers
were applied as a top dressing during the banana bud stage. All
other farm operations were managed with traditional farming
methods. Thefield experiment was performed from May 2010 to
July 2011
