Serangoon, officially Serangoon New Town, is an urban planning area situated in the north-eastern part of Singapore. The district is tucked between the urban planning areas of Ang Mo Kio and Hougang.
The district has a total of seven subzones. Serangoon Central, Lorong Chuan and Upper Paya Lebar all form the Serangoon New Town. Serangoon Gardens, Serangoon North and Seletar Hills are all part of the private Serangoon Gardens Estate. Serangoon has its own industrial estate, the Serangoon North Industrial Estate, which is located in its own dedicated subzone.[3]
For public transport, Serangoon New Town is served by Mass Rapid Transit trains on the North-East Line and Circle Line at Serangoon MRT Station. Serangoon New Town is also served by public bus services.
The term "Serangoon" can also refer to the area where Serangoon Road passes through; where is now known as Little India.
