Dear K. Pichet, K.Kunnaree,
We have checked with our product house and it is confirmed that NMS is required an upgrade to SR6.0 for any hardware upgrades.
Coriant proposed 2 options for NMS upgrade for CAT.
1) Upgrade all hardware servers including DB servers, Replication servers, Comm servers and DXX servers. In this case, DB servers will be upgrading to Linux server. To save cost, Replication server can run on the same physical server with 2nd DB server. Sybase need to be upgraded from ASE15.0.2 to ASE15.7.
If Sybase license of ASE15.7-SP122 and REP 15.7.1-SP121 for Linux can be provided FOC , under current MA contract. That will help to reduce cost.
2) Upgrade all hardware servers except DB servers and Replication servers. Continue to use existing DB server and Replication servers on Unix platform. Sybase need to be upgraded from ASE15.0.2 to ASE15.7
If Sybase license of ASE15.7-SP122 and REP 15.7.1-SP121 for Unix can be provided FOC , under current MA contract. That will help to reduce cost.
Option 2) will be cheaper solution but limitation is that option 2 doesn’t support Hot Stand-By and the support for Solaris 10 ends in Jan 2018 for the Premier Support and in Jan 2021 for the extended support. Also Solaris 10 will be the last release to be supported by the 8000 NMS, there are no plans for 8000 NMS with Solaris 11.
With budget limitation, We would suggest that CAT to go for option 2) with 2 steps approach to use first year budget for upgrading Comm server and DXX server. And in the second year , if CAT got the new budget , then later can upgrade DB servers hardware to Linux with HSB.
Below are minimum requirement of hardware specifications of DB server and Replication server for SR6.0
