I want to thank you for your continual push to get this accurate and correct! Please know that I have had very strong conversations related to this area and others in the past few days. It has been a difficult situation as the Corporate team has not had a lot of International Experience and push in areas that must be addressed. I know you have had A LOT of patience with us and I appreciate it!! I have explained the tax ramifications and other issues it causes when we do not support in the right way.
The issue here is about timing and people doing exactly what they should be. Thailand has not received the proper support in my opinion and Liz and I will be working on this exact point. Through my conversations today, one of the issues that came up is that the consolidation entries have been recorded. As such, we kept the P&L impact but moved the balance sheet impact to “commissionable cogs.” Otherwise, this was going to impact the consolidation. Liz can send the entry. This should be able to “true-up” in February. Although this is not ideal, this was the compromise I had with the team.
Liz and I would like to have a call with you sometime next week. Can you identify what the exact break down is in this process from your perspective and email it to us in advance?
I will also schedule a meeting with Operations and Renee and Liz in order to get a process in place so that these items are addressed in the appropriate manner. It is likely a breakdown of communication from what I’ve seen and getting both sides on the same page and building a process that will work well. We not only need this process for Thailand but for the other markets going forward.
Once we meet on both sides, we will also work out a timeline for which specific items must be booked/reviewed during the close as to not affect the consolidation. As such, the inventory must be addressed earlier in the process collectively.
I have been wanting to have Oil trained by Luke in order to bridge this issue and get the answer we both want. I can help setup the training if this is not already setup. Do you know? If oil can make the adjustments, then you can work with her on the entries and simply send a summary to Corp (ops/renee). Let me know what you think of that approach.
Thanks for all you do. This is taking time as we are having to push people in areas they have never had to address and it has been a slow process. We will get there as we MUST get there but it is taking a little longer than I would prefer.
Please provide your thoughts and input based on the email above. We will then use your input and discuss in the meeting next week with the other departments and work in setting up the RIGHT process.
