Swirl t-shirts. Spread a labeled t-shirt flat on the table and ask the children to pinch the middle of the shirt and hold it down against the tabletop. Swirl the t-shirt around flat on the table until it is (sort of) tightly swirled. Gather up and put 1 rubber band around it, followed by a 2nd, to form a “+” (This process makes a great tie-dye swirl on the front & back).
