4. Factors Influencing-the Choices of Tourism
Tourism is a major economic factor in the Kingdom of Thailand . Thailand has also become one of the world’s most popular travel destinations for international tourists with its rich natural resources and diverse tourism promotion activities. Moreover, Thailand is famed for services and the warm hospitality shown toward tourists, with new hotels, resorts, and accommodations of various types launched all over the country to accommodate tourists, both domestic and foreign. Many tour sites can be found throughout the country that will provide tourists with interesting Knowledge of the unique Thai culture. In choosing a tourism destination, it is too complex to be elaborated because it involves the relationship in the process of travel decision making. According to Dellart et al. (1998), the process of choosing a tourism destination involves the psychological and non-psychological factors, while Um and Crompton (1990) state that the process of choosing a tourism destination involves personnel (push factor), destination characteristics (pull factor) and limitation factor. Additionally, the factors that influence decision of travel, according to Button, (1993) in Sunarto, (2009) travelers or passengers and company are different. For travelers there are four factors which influence the travelers in choosing the mode of transport. There are trips time, financial cost, frequency, and quality of service. While Hiscock et al (2002) state that various psycho-social factors appear to play a part in determining people’s travel behaviors and how they perceive their travel choices. However, Curtis and Perkins (2006) point out that these psycho-social variables such as the perception of safety, power and masculinity are significant determinants of travel behavior.
