Y.A.M Tunku Naquiyuddin Ibni Tuanku Ja’afar - Alumni Profile
Y.A.M Tunku Naquiyuddin Ibni Tuanku Ja’afar is a graduate of
Aberystwyth University where he read International Politics and
received a Bachelor of Science degree with honours in Economics. He is
the eldest son of Their Royal Highnesses, The Yang di Pertuan Besar of
Negeri Sembilan and the Tunku Ampuan.
Following a period working for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the
Malaysian Embassy in Paris, Tunku Naquiyuddin joined the family
business, Syarikat Pesaka Antah Sdn. Bhd, in 1977. He was Chairman of
the company until 1994 when he relinquished the post so that he could
fulfil his duty as Regent of Negri Sembilan Darul Khusus during his
father’s reign at the King of Malaysia.
A fluent French speaker, he has for many years promoted trade links
between Malaysia and France, and was conferred the Ordre National
du Merite (Officier) by the French President in May 1988 and Ordre
National De La Legion D’Honneur in 2005.
His numerous business interests include bio-technology, metalurgical coke, healthcare services, infrastructure,
property, specialist retail, gold mining and energy.
He is Pro Chancellor of Malaysia’s third oldest university, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).
