Capital punishment(the death penalty) for serious crimes is a subject people always argue about. Most European countries do not have the death penalty. However, thirty-eight states in the United States have the death penalty, including California and New York. However, other states, like Hawaii and Alaska, don't have the death penalty. Some states have a number of very strange old laws. Most people have never heard of these laws. Nobody gets arrested for breaking them, but they are still laws. For example, in Kentucky, everybody nust have a bath at least once a year. In Indiana, you cannot travel on a bus less than four hours after you eat garlic. In California, it is against the law to enter a restaurant on horseback.
