I just wanted to update you on my arthritis so you won't worry. The doctor wants me to get xrays when I'm back from Quito and feels that we can treat the flair with medication and other treatment, and not surgery right away. The right hip is worse than the knee. Both had accelerated processes of getting worse because of the real bad gout attacks I've had in the past and the disease spread to the already damaged joints. I can walk, though I have pain.

I lost my phone I bought from you. I was so mad at myself over it. It fell out of my pocket while I was riding in bus. I bought a cheap cell phone today. My new number is: 0980784481.

Tomorrow, I leave early in the am to go to Quito. I will meet with my attorney's people and go early Friday morning to the Foreign office to get an 180 day extension. I'm now past due but there will be no fines. The cost just for the extra fee from my attorney and the gov't fee is $500 not to include the cost of travel and staying in a hostel. It's worth the cost. Then it will be less tense as they process my residency application. I heard next year they'll make this residency process simpler which doesn't help now.

Good news: I think I found a furnished place to live. I found out by word of mouth. The gym owner's father owns the building in which the gym is located and has a small studio apartment for rent. Totally rehab with wood floors, new kitchen with granite counter tops, new bathroom, etc. It's just a somewhat bigger than the room I had in Chiangmai, except it has a full kitchen with running hot and cold water. The location is very good, will be much better than where I am now, and the cost will about the same. I'll loose some money for moving earlier, but, my health definitely needs a much better place than my current one. They were less than honest in dealing with me on my current apartment and the place hasn't been really cleaned in forever, but, I won't get negative because of the money saved from not staying in more expensive hotels or hostels, was good location, learned a lot about what not to do in trying to get a place in Cuenca, and was able to open a credit union account because I had an address in Cuenca, etc..

Believe it or not, I actually took pictures of my current place just a few days ago and was going to down load them from my cell phone to show you and Devin, but I lost my cell phone.

Don't worry about asking me for money when you're in need. I won't need a lot of money for any expensive medical treatment as I found out today. He'll use medication and said most of his patients improve and not need surgery. Medication is not that expensive in Ecuador - kind of like Thailand. (His English is pretty good).. I've already set some money aside for Devin, will be able to finish paying legal fees and other gov't fees, sign a lease of a place to live, and I have enough to fall back for the short term if something unexpected comes up. Once I get the visa extension I'll try to open regular bank acc'ts that will take international direct deposit and get my income going again. Compared to so many (most) people in the world, including you, my life is much easier financially. I need to be gracious in that and be open to help, especially you..
