Figure 5 shows ORD spectra of (–)-poly1 and (+)-poly2. Optical rotations at visible range were observed in the ORD spectra of the polymers. (–)-Poly1 polymerized from (–)-mono1 showed a negative optical rotation around 560 nm, and (–)-mono1 also showed a negative optical rotation at 589 nm. (+)-Poly2 gave the same sign of optical rotation as the monomer. These results indicate that the optical rotations at around 560 nm of the polymers are derived from the chiral side chains, suggesting that the sign of optical rotation of the polymers depends on chirality of the side chains.
