This was done using the neutralized solution obtained from equivalent weight determination, by the saponification of pectin followed by titration of the liberated acid. 25 mL of 0.25 M NaOH was added to the neutralized solution and the mixture was stirred thoroughly and allowed to stand for 30 min at ambient temperature. A 25 ml of 0.25N HCl was added and titrated with 0.1N NaOH to the same end point as earlier.
