Aspergillus niger, for example, is a microorganism which has been used in many SSF studies due to its ability to synthesize >19 types of enzyme, such as cellulase, pectinase, protease, etc. This enzyme consortium, in addition to its capacity to liberate the phenolic compounds, also helps to hydrolyze the bonds between lipo-proteins and lipo-polysaccharides present in oil- seeds, improving recovery of oil from the substrates.
