The cuticle on the adaxial and
abaxial epidermis is densely striated with striae running across
anticlinal walls (Fig. 4b, c). Around stomata a few concentric
rings are present. Wax platelets are present on the abaxial
epidermis (Fig. 4c). In Batesanthus the leaves are glabrous. The
cuticle on the adaxial epidermis varies from smooth (Fig. 4d) to
striate. The abaxial epidermis is smooth with cuticle striations
perpendicular to stomata (Fig. 4e).
