Execution/Operations: Manager is accountable for technical excellence and delivery of high quality products to the contracted statement of work (operating plan) on time and to support the organization's budget. Establish individual and team performance expectations with clearly measurable objectives. Work collaboratively with peers to integrate and execute multi-group work statement efficiently and effectively. Measure and communicate work status accurately to stakeholders and customers. Demonstrate engineering functional excellence to customers and employees.
Management Leadership: Manage experienced engineering and technical professionals who exercise latitude and independence in their assignments. Obtain resources necessary to perform work and delegate deliverables effectively. Guide employees in translating customer requirements into executable work statement while maintaining performance to contract/program defined statement of work. Manage employee performance planning and performance to plan. Provide consistent, timely, and effective communication and coaching to employees in order to enable maximum performance. Partner with and enable employee performance/career development and skill training. Coach employees to identify and mitigate performance risk and effectively manage change. Monitor and improve/maintain team morale by facilitating an open culture in the workplace which encourages full participation where achievements are recognized. Assist in selection and effective incorporation of new engineering and/or technical staff. Ensure team operates to business policies, ethical standards, safe work practices, and completes required training.
The Business: Communicate and align team operations/performance to organization/program business goals and strategies. Manage group budget to plan and establish operating plans which reduce business risk/cost up front. Identify, enable, and implement performance improvements (productivity enhancements or cost reductions). Utilize engineering excellence to enhance product integrity and profitability
Requirements
Responsible for managing the planning and execution of technology development projects and technical support to programs. Manage experienced engineers in collecting customer (internal and external) requirements and technology needs and defining associated program requirements for product development. Manage experienced engineersing performing Specialty Engineering activities to include but not limited to: Reliability/Maintainability, Safety, Human Factors, Weights Engineering, and Materials and Processes. Assure development projects are aligned with the overall corporate business and product strategies. Integrate requirements, resource needs, risk analysis, cost, value, and safety considerations into plans and products to comply with customer, regulatory, and company requirements. Coach professionals to communicate and document results effectively. Accountable for quality budget and schedule of technology delivery. Effectively manages overall portfolio and technology trade decisions. Identifies and implements processes to reduce cost and improve quality for current and future products. Enables innovative and high value technology development. Knowledge of Aerostructures configurations, materials, fabrication processes, Specialty Engineering disciplines, and Earned Value Management System/Control Account Management (EVMS/CAM) is desired. Previous Management experience is desired
Education/Experience Requirements:
Requires educational credentials equivalent to a Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry. ABET is preferred but not required.
Prefer candidates with the following:
Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in engineering or materials
5 years of leadership experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience with project management tools
Flexibility to manage a wide range of projects
Successful team building
Ability to establish a strong network to enable success
Experience in aerospace manufacturing processes and design
Experience in either Specialty Engineering
