The total salinity was at 39 (±1) g L-1, dissolved
oxygen concentration at 10 (±1) % atm, redox potential at
325 (±30) mV, and no sulfide was detected. The absence
of sulfide corresponded with the positive redox potential
and the presence of oxygen. Nitrate concentration was 2.5
(±0.2) mM and sulfate was 30 (±3.0) mM, which is
consistent with concentrations frequently found in marine
environments. The Fe(III) concentration was 0.40 (±0.05)
mmol L-1, and Fe(II) has not been detected, which corresponded
with redox and pH measurements.
