WOMAC scale (Bellamy 1989), validated in previous
study and modified for Indian use [CRD Pune version]
(Likert Version-3.0), was used for functional assessment
with 24 questions (Q) to grade the pain (Q1–5), stiffness
(Q6–7), and physical functional difficulty (Q8–24) pertaining
to the affected knee joint/joints. The patient
response was graded qualitatively (0 = none, 1 = mild,
2 = moderate, 3 = severe, 4 = extreme) with a maximum
score of 96 (Chopra et al. 2004).
