When the student responses to the question to detect student misconceptions about respiration were investigated,
it was observed that two of the 6th graders were in understanding category and one in no answer. Two of the 7th
graders were in no answer category and the remaining one responded in misconception category with the
explanation; “…since the plant in the second box takes carbon dioxide and gives oxygen…” The misconception of
the student persisted as it was in the pre-interview.
