The FDA issued a Safety Alert aimed at the hospital and clinical users of medical telemetry, advising them to coordinate with local TV broadcasters (FDA, 1998). It also initiated a meeting with all of these parties to develop ways that would address the immediate issues with wireless medical telemetry, with a goal to develop long-lasting solutions including protected, separate frequencies and coordination. Because of the concern for medical telemetry use in hospitals, the American Hospital
Association (AHA) took the lead in organizing a Wireless Telemetry Task Group with the goal of developing specific recommendations for solutions
