crisis management is one of the most interdisciplinary fields that exists.modern crises crisis cross not only whole industries, but also every conceivable specialty within an organization.different part of an organization tend to own different crisis. One part will be most susceptible to terrorism,an other to product tampering, and another to faulty communication.however, any of these can easily spread to another part of the organization.
you need somebody, somewhere,to coordinate all of this.in a reactive organization, the response to crisis involves what i call the head-in-the-past argument:namely, that a system is no more than the sum of its parts.i believe that a system is the product of the interaction among its parts-interaction that intensifies all the individual actions.to manage crisis intelligently, someone needs to be looking at the complexity of interaction among departments.
the world is now so interconnected that the old insulating barriers have collapsed.in an organization or in the world at large, all news is local news.
