The shaving of children’s hair into a topknot is an ancient Thai ceremony. When children reach the age of one month, no matter whether they are boys or girls, they still keep the top knot of hair. It means that those children are naïve. They deserve kindness and help in their childhood. They keep the top knot until girls are eleven years-old and boys are thirteen years-old, and then the top knots are shaved. It shows that they have stepped into adulthood.
