Corn (Zea mays L.) is one of the most important cereal crops in
Turkey. In 2013, nearly 5 million tonnes of corn was produced from
about 580,000 ha of land (Anonymous, 2014). Weed control is a
vital management practice that should be carried out to ensure
optimum grain yield for corn production. Severe yield reductions in
38e65% range were observed compared with the weed-free control
(Gantoli et al., 2013). The magnitude of weed-related crop yield
reduction is not uniform and depends on multiple factors such as
weed species and biomass, weed density, time of weed emergence
relative to crop emergence, weed distribution, soil type, soil
moisture, pH, and soil fertility level (Wicks et al., 2004; Estorninos
