XRD structural study of cobalt ferrite nano-structure prepared by hydrothermal route
The XRD pattern of CoFe2O4 nano-structure prepared by hydrothermal at 300 °C using iron nitrate, cobalt nitrate and ethylene glycol is shown in Fig. 2. The results confirm the formation of ferrite structure with diffraction peaks correspond to the cubic inverse spinel type lattice of CoFe2O4 (JCPDS Card No. 22-1086). The average crystallite size for the nano-structure cobalt ferrite prepared by hydrothermal heat treated at 300 °C is calculated using Scherrer equation. The average crystallite size increases from 34 to 52 nm which is due to the coalescence and Ostwald ripening. XRD measurements showed no notable differences before and after the photocatalytic recycles, indicating that the nano-composites exhibit good photostability and antiphotocorrosion property. Therefore, application of the cobalt ferrite nano-composite coated on glass for degradation of organic pollutants will not cause secondary pollution.
