Students’ Understanding in Mathematics
According to Sierpinska (1994), understanding is the mental experience of a person by which he/she relates an object to another object. Personal understanding of a concept is grasping or acquiring the meaning of the object. Understanding is a matter of being able to do a variety of thought-provoking things with a topic, such as explaining, finding evidence and examples generalizing, applying and
representing the topic in new ways. (Blythe,1998)
