Conclusion
The trend towards globalisation, fuelled by developing information technology,
is affected by a complex interplay of economic, social, political and cultural factors.
These factors are interdependent and need to be considered within a relativist
perspective that globalisation in itself is not “good” or “bad” but dependent on the
context and the people making the decisions. Organisations therefore need to take a
broader perspective towards IOS, such as e-marketplaces, and maintain awareness of
the far-reaching influences of adoption. The economic benefits of globalisation cannot
be fully realised without consideration of the social, political and cultural issues.
