We are now ready to stretch the ball screw. To accomplish this task we will need 2 indicators
with a sensitivity of .0001” (0.002mm) per division. Place ball bearings in both ends of the ball
screw and place the tip of one indicator against the bearing the non-motor end. Place the other
indicator against the motor end of the ball screw and zero out both indicators. Tighten the
stretching nut a small amount and loosen it again. Repeat this a few times to make sure the bearings
are seated. Then slowly tighten the nut until the indicator stops moving. This will just put
pressure on the bearings.
