Despite these limitations, results underscore the need for
comprehensive services for adolescents in LTFC. The serious
health issues of these adolescents require specialized assessments
and collaboration between the CWS and healthcare
systems (Schneiderman & Villagrana 2010). Ignoring these
needsmay worsen the effects of maltreatment.Additionally, it is
critical to consider the importance of current caregivers in
treatment access and follow-through (Villagrana 2010). Continuing
to make efforts to improve services offered and access to
these services may have a substantial impact on the future of
children in foster care.
