This prognostic information is
valuable to patients and health care
providers. The high risk of stroke after
TIA also heightens the need for
timely research into the early management
strategies for patients presenting
with TIA. While admission
to hospital and/or rapid access outpatient
clinics may appear to be reasonable
strategies in light of this risk,
these strategies are, as yet, of unproven
benefit. Further studies are
needed to evaluate strategies designed
to reduce the early risk of
stroke after TIA.
