The objectives of this research were to analyze and compare the data collected to establish if
there are relationships between the characteristics of the companies in the SET 100 index,
their corporate social responsibility disclosure, and their operating performance based on the
empirical model of Weir, Laing and McKnight (2002) who studied the relationship between
corporate performance and the proportion of independent directors and officers in positions of
control, and executive officers. In the present study, the variables were adjusted to suit the
business environment in Thailand and consisted of the industry group, paid-up registered
capital, the proportion of the companies’ stock held by the five major shareholders, and the
companies’ corporate governance scores.
