The boards were conditioned at 65 ± 1% relative humidity and
20 ± 3 C for 3 weeks. After being conditioned, the Experimental
panels were cut into test specimens according to the standard of
DIN 68763. The MDF properties determined including modulus
of rupture (MOR), modulus of elasticity (MOE), internal bond
strength (IB) and thickness swelling (TS). Static bending (MOR
and MOE) and IB tests were performed with Instron 4486 machine
(Instron Inc., England). The internal bond strength was determined
by testing tensile strength perpendicular to surface. Twenty-four
hours immersion tests were employed to obtain thickness swelling
data. The procedures of the tests are detailed in the DIN standard
68763.
