These methods are used to estimate
yield (e.g. MSY), rather than YPR and can be used to identify both
growth and recruitment-overfishing. They can also be used to evaluate
the yield consequences of different fishing gears used in the
fishery (Maunder, 2002). When recruitment is assumed to be independent
of stock size, the contemporary analysis is similar to YPR
analysis (YPR = yield/average recruitment).
