But the War Elephants evened the score 17 minutes later when Teerasil Dangda calmly collected pass from Tristan Do and put the ball into the net. Australia tried to regain lead before halftime but could not break the packed defence of host. The Thais came to the second half with confidence and a spot kick Teerasil after Theerathon Bunmathan fouled gave them the first lead 11 minutes after the break. But Australia came back make the match 2-2 with another spot kick by Jedinak after Siroch Chatthong was fouled inside the box. The Thai team needed points in their fifth game following four successive losses to Saudi Arabia, Japan, the United Arab Emirates and Iraq. Before the game on Tuesday, they have conceded 10 goals and scored only once.
