Laccase and MG reductase activities in liquid cultures were
determined after 24 and 48 h of cultivation using supernatant
obtained after culture centrifugation as well as the whole cultures
(after biomass disintegration). Laccase activity was assayed
according to the method described earlier by Leonowicz and
Grzywnowicz (1981) with slight modifications. Briefly, formation
of oxidized syringaldazine was monitored at 525 nm. The reaction
mixture (1 ml) contained 900 ml of the enzyme extract and 100 ml of
0.5 mM syringaldazine. The reference blank included culture
medium and syringaldazine. One unit of enzyme activity was
