Congratulations to Nicky Morgan, who has not only finally acknowledged the impossible workload teachers struggle with every term and found a solution, but has also simultaneously solved many more of the country’s problems with her logical and well-thought-out approach.
Her suggestion that teachers should not work after 5pm means that teachers can now expect to return home at a reasonable hour, with an evening stretching before them full of rest and leisure. It’s the obvious solution. Working too hard? Then don’t! Job done.
Why not apply this principle to the NHS? If care is inadequate at weekends, why not simply ban people from being sick after 6pm on a Friday? And we could save a fortune if we asked terrorists very nicely if they could refrain from attacks on Tuesdays and Wednesdays so those working in counter-terrorism could put their feet up.
