Alberto Bailleres Gonzalez chairs Industrias Penoles, Mexico's second largest mining company and one of the world's largest silver miners. He also controls department store chain Grupo Palacio de Hierro, insurance company Grupo Nacional Provincial and pension fund manager Grupo Profuturo, and he owns a stake in Mexican Coke bottler FEMSA. He is reportedly a patron of bullfighting and is the president of the board of trustees of ITAM, a leading Mexican university that specializes in business and economics. ITAM was founded by Alberto Bailleres' late father, Raul Bailleres.
