How do you get better at teaching? In a sense, of course, it just happens. The context in which you work is irresistibly evaluative; just about every transaction, every conversation you have in school provides feedback on some aspect of your performance. Some of this is bound to rub off, even if you don’t notice it. But making sense of this incessant input, taking control of your practice and creating some sort of explicit system around your own development is important for your career. Understanding where you are and what you need to do is as calming as it is progressive.
