Martin, who lives alone, has lately developed problems
with dizziness and does not dare to shower on
his own. Therefore the home care service helps him
twice a week. He has decided he wants to shower on
Tuesdays and Fridays. He has been asked whether he
wants to shower in the morning or afternoon, but
since he is dependent both on home care service and
the health care organization to dress his sores after his
shower, he must shower when it is suitable for them
both. He has the ability and knowledge to be able to
make a decision, but since he is dependent on others
he cannot control the entire process and is not free to
exercise his own free choice. But due to his legal and
ethical rights, he gets the help needed to shower, even if
not exactly when he wishes. Thus Martin agrees to the
timing, but it is not in accordance with what he wants
