In addition, Dreman and Lufkin (1997) examine the use of the contrarian strategy within
an industry. When analyzing the performance of favored and less attractive stocks within
an industry, they find that there is regular mispricing of stocks. Dreman and Lufkin’s results
indicate that the contrarian strategy does not bear excess risk and therefore conclude
that risk is incapable of explaining this mispricing.
