The growth regulators tested had profound influence on the shoot bud growth into shoots through bud initiation in all the multi nodal segments. Multiple shoot induction was not observed in any of the PGR combination. The single shoot was isolated and used for either rooting or for inducing shoot buds through subculture. The primary explants sub cultured onto same medium after the isolation of shoot developed new bud leading to further multiplication. These explants showed the development of 2-3 shoots in 30 days of incubation. The shoots so developed through shoot tip node (single or multiple) were healthy and grew 1.5-2.5 cm in 56 days, while in nodal shoot tip explant (single or multiple) the average shoot length was recorded 0.5-1.0 cm in 95 days of inoculation in subcultures (Table 2). The explants nodal stem and nodal shoot tip gave better results when treated with plant growth regulators than explants treated with basal medium alone.
